Jim
Sinclair, General Secretary, and Peter Short, Moderator, of
the United Church of Canada

Dear Jim
Sinclair and Peter Short:
As the chief
fiduciary officers of the Corporation known as The United
Church of Canada, you bear personal liability for the
following crimes, which I publicly charge you and your
church of committing:
1. Violating
international law by aiding and abetting a war-making
government, namely, the government of Canada, in its
unprovoked attack on a non-aggressor sovereign nation, the
country of Afghanistan, and
2. Actively
defrauding and robbing the people of Canada by your falsely
posing as a Christian religious body in order to avoid
paying taxes.
On the first
charge:
As a creation of
the government of Canada in 1925, the United Church of
Canada has faithfully preached compliance with war taxes and
warfare from its pulpits during every war engaged in by
Canada since that year, and has maintained active chaplaincy
programs within the Canadian army, navy and air force. This
institutional involvement in militarism by the United Church
has allowed the machinery of war to murder untold numbers of
innocent people.
As further proof
of your intentional involvement in war, in 1991 and
2002, the United Church actually refused not only a call by
non-violent Christians and Quakers to end those chaplaincy
programs, but their additional call for a stance of
neutrality by Canada towards the nations of Iraq and
Afghanistan, in accordance with the teachings of Jesus.
Such a refusal
by the United Church to abide by the simplest and most basic
commands of Jesus illuminates the actual nature of your
corporation as a state-affiliated rather than a religious
body. Further proof of this is that, as an arm of the
government, the United Church of Canada led the domestic war
against aboriginal nations in your assault on their land and
children by your administering of the terrorist “Indian
Residential Schools”, in which more than 50,000 innocent
children died as a result of a deliberate policy and
practice by your church of ethnic cleansing, germ warfare,
and systemic homicide. Such are the actions of a war-making
government towards a conquered people, not a religious body.
The huge
deception and fraud being perpetrated on the people of
Canada by your church is illustrated not only by such
murderous actions by your church, but by the simple fact
that there is nothing within your founding charter, or in
the federal legislation that created your church, that
requires that you as a body either endorse wars by Canada or
operate chaplaincy programs within the Canadian military -
any more than you were ever legally authorized to commit
genocide and warfare against the indigenous people of
Canada. And yet your church has systematically engaged and
is engaging in these crimes while operating under the guise
of a religious, "charitable" Christian body.
Under the law,
that is known as fraud.
Consequently, as
a Christ-posturing body which denies Christ and his
teachings in practice, the United Church of Canada must do
one of two things in order to avoid prosecution for fraud:
either your church must publicly disavow the non-violent
teachings of Jesus and declare itself to be a non-Christian
and non-religious organization, or you must immediately end
all of your military chaplaincy programs which help sustain
the Canadian military in its illegal war against the Afghan
people.
On the second
charge:
It would be more
than naive of me and others to expect your church to deny
its nature as an offspring of the state itself, and
challenge the arrangement whereby war-blessing church is
protected by an appreciative war-making state in a happy if
adulterous marriage of convenience. What we do expect is
some honesty about the nature of that relationship, as do
the many thousands of tithing church members whose money is
helping to fund the murder of Afghans and other people by
your church’s maintenance of the infrastructure of the
Canadian military.
I, and they, and
every tax-paying Canadian citizen who financially supports
your church, expect a moral accounting by a church that
claims to be preaching the words of Jesus of Nazareth, who
told us to put away our swords, embrace our persecutors, and
not shed blood, for any reason whatsoever. For only by
acting as such an expression of Jesus himself can you, as a
body, expect to receive any form of tax exemption under
Canadian law.
Under the Income
Tax Act of Canada, your church is absolved from paying any
taxes in Canada because of your official status as a
religious body, not a "charity". Taxpayers in Canada pay
more than $15 billion every year under the mistaken
perception that your church, and others, are
actually behaving in a religious, Christian manner. The
point is, why should every household in Canada continue to
pay an estimated $2,200 every year to carry your tax burden
for you when you are actively defrauding the people and
government of Canada by your posturing as a religious body?
The only basis
on which the United Church of Canada is not paying taxes
every year is its supposed status as a religious body, since
it is not operating as a charity, which must designate all
of its revenue to strictly charitable purposes - not to the
corporate investments, public relations firms, institutional
maintenance and legal advisors which consume much of the
United Church's revenue. And yet, according to the Income
Tax Act, a religious body must "actively advance the
teachings and morals" of its religion.
Since the United
Church of Canada refuses to advance, that is, practice, the
essential teaching of Christianity - the non-violent love of
enemies and a refusal to support war - it can and must be
disqualified from eligibility for tax exemption under
Canadian law.
In summary:
1. The United
Church of Canada is actively colluding in crimes under
international law by supporting a machinery of warfare by
the Canadian state against a non-aggressor nation, the
sovereign state of Afghanistan.
2. The United
Church of Canada has actively defrauded the people of Canada
and has consequently robbed them of at least $100 billion in
unpaid taxes since 1925.
3. Consequently,
you, Jim Sinclair and Peter Short, are personally liable and
responsible for these crimes, as is every official of the
United Church of Canada. You are therefore declared to be
criminals under the laws of Canada and international law,
and are subject to immediate citizens' arrest if Canadian
authorities refuse to detain you.
4. The United
Church of Canada must immediately begin paying back to the
people of Canada all of the monies fraudulently taken from
them by the United Church's non-payment of taxes, by
mortgaging all of its property and selling all of its
investments, lands, and other revenues.
5. The United
Church of Canada must immediately be disqualified from
eligibility for tax exemption under the Income Tax Act of
Canada.
