PART 1

AL JAZERRA BREAKS STORY OF COMPUTER VOTE FRAUD IN AMERICAN ELECTION

Last night on Al Jazerra's English language channel, broadcast live throughout the world and available now on the internet (links below), correspondent Riz Khan hosted computer programmer and whistleblower Clint Curtis and blogger Brad Friedman (Bradblog.com) as they described how Curtis was contracted by then Speaker of the House of Florida, and current Congressman from the 25th District, Tom Feeney (R), to write vote flipping software in anticipation of the 2000 election.

PART 2

While Curtis and Friedman admit that it has never been proven that this software was ever used to flip an election, they cite many examples of vote flipping from Republican to Democrat that persist from 2000 and 2004 to this day, and with the 2008 Presidential election looming next week, concerns about the integrity of computerized voting has led them and many other vote reform activists to advocate paper ballots for complete transparency in our elections.

The occasion of the news report coincides not only with the upcoming election, but also with the release of the movie "Murder, Spies and Voting Lies," which documents Curtis's story and Friedman's efforts as a journalist and blogger to bring it to the public's attention.  The movie documents their unsuccessful efforts to bring their charges to the mainstream media and to the Inspector General in Florida, who in the course of his investigation meets an untimely death. Curtis tells of his testimony to a Congressional hearing of this affair, and writing an affidavit enunciating all the details and even passing a lie detector test confirming all his assertions.

Other election reformers like Bob Fritrakis, a lawyer, journalist and political scientist from Ohio, who is expert in the 2004 Ohio election irregularities and Harri Hursti, a Finnish computer security specialist, who is now working on a "silver bullet" solution to computer voting (although he says it will be at least ten years out), add further to the mysterious irregularities of the recent American Presidential elections and compel a solution not only for America but for all democracies in the world, as these same computer technologies which can be so easily hacked are being exported everywhere.

Speaking with Friedman after the broadcast, he revels in the irony that it took a foreign news organization like Al Jazerra to finally break this story, more than eight years after the fact, when American organizations like ABC, CBS, NY Times and the Washington Post have all known about the charges, but refused to publish them for at least four years.  This story has been viral on the internet during that time, especially on Bradblog.com and has at times even overloaded his servers and temporarily broken his blog.

While the film has had a limited release on the American progressive network Link TV, where it will show one more time before the election and at half a dozen film festivals across the country including the Ft. Lauderdale in Florida and the Columbus in Ohio (tonight), the best way to see the film is to order a DVD copy from VotingLies.com.  or from Amazon.com  The filmmakers encourage you to buy the disc and have a house party screening with friends and family and discuss how important the integrity of the voting process is to our democracy, then to pass the DVD on to others you know who would also benefit from seeing it.
